Citadel 7 author Yuan Jur

Yuan Jur

When I was young, the world I lived in was defined by inflexible corridors of middle class 60&70's Australian structure. I did not let that define me. The message my school environment sent was, don't aspire; that's only for the smart kids. You're not one of them. I did not let that define me. I was a good sportsman, but not at a sport that was rugby, soccer or cricket, at the time the primary sports focus in this country. We lived in a middle class multi cultural community, underpinned by racial narrows and fear of anything different. I did not let that define me. There were strong unionist attitudes (my father was a coal minor) and fundamentally two choices in politics that were never explained very well. We were called the lucky country, but where I grew up, that meant only for a select few. I spoke only English, but had many European and Asian friends, but good role models were in very short supply. I did not let that define me. I was told I had a flair for telling a good story 'Now, if I could just learn to write and spell, I might get somewhere,' they said. I did not let that define me either.

By the time I was 50 yrs old, I'd traveled to Asia, had two wonderful children, who've became inspirations and successful adults to be proud of, I'd become a Buddhist scholar, spoke the Chinese language to an advanced level, was a master of Chinese martial arts, beaten two severe strokes, paralysis and gotten past chronic dyslexia and partial vision impairment to become a fiction author. I'd written the 1st three sagas of my #Citadel7Superverse series (now a multi Award winning series) and more.

We are all greater than the sum of our parts, it's what we do with that greatness that defines us. Be the best you, that you can be, let that define you, family is defined by heart and actions not by blood, make choices with an open mind and stop for no one, leave the naysayers in the vacuum of the past.

Superverse in Brief Blog 11

June 2019
The coming book fair and new titles.

Coming Storm - Thor's Journey

It’s been a while since the last update. That’s because each of the events of the last months leading up to today’s message have been evolving to quickly to establish any one clear thread.

The exciting news is, we are finally positioned to be ready to send all the material necessary for our display at the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany this September. We’ve made hundreds of adjustments to the web page. Recalibrated all of our publications to align most closely with the Chicago style manual for current layout. That meant updating all our titles on Ingram Spark, distributor at ground zero for of all our paperback and electronic copy. In the publishing industry, the Frankfurt Book Fair is one of the premiere book events on the yearly publishing calendar. We are very pleased to have five of our award-winning Citadel 7 titles hosted by the IBPA’s on site store.

It’s been two years or so now since making the change to independent publishing. We are finally turning the re-branding corner to where titles waiting for publication in the wings can be moved into the publishing process.

Behind those scenes, another new thriller title is being born. This one is heading to the dark side. One for readers who like their sci fi fantasy on the mystery and macabre side.

We’ll keep you posted as more news of the year unfolds.

Quall Assassin: Book 5 Of The Citadel 7 Saga

Quall Assassin: Book 5 Of The Citadel 7 Saga
Author: Yuan Jur
Publisher: WaaDoom

Book review by Michael Radon

"'For what you have done to my Analuke, I allow you to see my true face. Consider this a parting gift.'"

The Citadel 7 Superverse series continues in this fifth novella, highlighting the code and behavior of the reclusive and mysterious Quall. Those that have been following the story will be familiar with the world and some of the more prominent characters already, but because of the nature of this series, it’s not at all prohibitive for newer readers to start here and work their way through the other books at their own whim. Despite the shorter form of a novella, the author does a splendid job of building out the world of Tora and its differing races, cultures, and natural features. Blending the genres of science fiction and fantasy, this story is an imaginative, entertaining read and worthy of consideration for any reader who likes to be thrust into an unfamiliar situation, working out the details as they go along.

Citadel 7 Superverse Video ChannelNothing happens overnight in getting a book series published. Citadel 7 was always intended to be more than just an exciting saga. Its scope is immense, but the books are the bedrock.

Producing just one stellar story (novel) is hard. Producing a grand scale trilogy takes an even greater effort. But producing an 18 novel series with the first six titles as its foundation, yep that many, is well, something else altogether. By 2015, the series reached the next milestone in its evolution.

Happily, the more people who read the books and got involved with the stories and characters, the more they wanted. Up until 2010, there was little in the way of visual material, and the initial trilogy was just going through its first true essential editing process. From 2010 to 2016 several very talented professionals had gathered to form the core crew that brings Citadel 7 books and audio to life.

Master cover and sci-tech artists Ralph Hawke Manis, Angel Martin and Mick Rattanarupe gave vivid faces and visual shape to characters and technologies. Any flaws in the manuscripts were ironed out under the watchful eye of Editor John David Kudrick. 2011-12; the saga that was to become the Citadel 7 Superverse crystallized into the first six novels. 2013 onward, a sound team gathered to test the works before their impending publication, amongst them Nigel Cook and Series Production Manager, Charles Wannop. A music theme for the entire audio visual presentation also began with the aid of composer-performer Chris Ficher.

So as you can see from the above, a lot goes into the superverse realm building. After all, the story does involve saving all existence from oblivion. Plots and challenges for the heroes and heroines, surprises (there are many) and shock events (even more of them) must be thought through and rated. Several character growth arcs amidst an over-aching theme take some time to build to ensure integrity. Getting all that right results in a cohesive series that has real longevity and reader/lister appeal.
